Strawberry and Blueberry Picking at Rossview Farm

It’s strawberry picking season!! There really is nothing like fresh-picked strawberries; store bought just don’t compare in sweetness and flavor.  I have been taking L picking for a few years now and I think she always eats more than she picks!

*edit 8/26/19 – We also went blueberry picking here and the bushes were full of amazing blueberries!! I’ve added some pictures at the end of the post.

The past two years, we have picked at Rossview Farm in Concord.  It’s hard to believe that you are still in Concord when you get to the farm (and as you are driving there), as it’s very rural and you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. When you get to the farm, they have cute little strawberry signs directing you where to go.

There are at least two different fields from which you pick; they will direct you to whichever field they are picking that day and guide you to the appropriate sections.  Last year we picked in this huge field:

This year, we picked in a different field that was a little smaller, but still good picking!

We went on a Monday morning and there were still plenty of berries to pick, even though they were open all weekend.

L almost filled her little bucket,

and I got plenty in mine!

Little Man came with us, as well, although he stayed in the Tula on my back.  He loves to run and I would have spent the entire time chasing him if he was free.  Maybe we will let him loose if his dad comes next time… Anyway, Little Man really enjoyed all of the tractors around the farm and even got to say hi to the farm dog riding around on a golf cart!

We always wear old clothes when we pick, because inevitably, strawberry will get everywhere — especially when littles wipe their hands after eating a yummy berry!  Little Man managed to make a mess of my Tula, however, I was able to get the stains out… phew! I think I might try and somehow cover it if Little man needs to be contained next time we go.

Our blueberry picking adventure was just as fun! There were tons of big, gorgeous berries on the bushes.  The bushes are tall, so I was able to stand the whole time, yet there were berries low enough that L and Little Man could easily pick, as well.

Strawberry and blueberry picking is a fun way to spend a morning and also motivates the kiddos to eat some fruit! I hope that your family enjoys this adventure as much as mine did!
