Legoland!

Looking for a way to entertain the kids on a rainy (or cold) day? Legoland in Boston (well, really Somerville) is a fun way to spend a few hours. We took the kiddos there this summer when we were visiting family in the area. You buy your ticket tied to a time; if you’re going on a busy day (think weekend or holiday), I would consider buying your ticket in advance online. We had our tickets for the morning, soon after it opened. I definitely would recommend going early as it got busier and busier through the morning. By the time we left, it was a little crazy!

Once you show your ticket, you are led to a special room with a video where a lego person talks to you about how legos are made.

You then have to opportunity to create your own Lego character on-screen.

After you’re done in the video room, you are funneled out to a ride. It’s a short ride, but it’s a also a game where you can earn points by shooting targets. It was a little tough for the kiddos, but dad had a good time with it! (It was dark in there so I didn’t get any good pictures… sorry!)

Once the ride is over (or if you choose to skip the ride), you enter a large room filled with many intricate Lego structures. Because we were in Boston, the structures revolved around Boston landmarks and its history. There was a wonderful replica of the city,

as well as a model of Logan Airport!

Many of the displays were even interactive, including this one where you could race two rowing shells!

Once you’re done in that room, you can head on out to another large area with many options. There’s a play area for the littles, a place to build and race a car, a Lego movie, and a climbing structure (make sure you have socks for that!). There is also a little ride where you can fly your bench up and down.

Additionally, throughout the space there are large Lego characters that Little Man loved to say hi to!

Overall, Legoland is a fun place to spend a few hours. I think that L enjoyed it a bit more than Little Man as many of the activities are geared toward older kids. Will we go back? Probably not anytime soon. Am I glad we went? Definitely! So, if you’re in the area and looking for something to do, check out Legoland.

I hope your family has as much fun on this adventure as mine did!
